Don’t you hear often people complaining that they do not have the attitude of a winner? They talk as if the winner’s attitude is something godsend and if they don’t have it then it is difficult for them to win in life. But in my opinion “attitude of a winner” is readily built in all of us (see above quote and note – “You were born to win!!”). There is just a need to uncover our winner’s attitude from layers hiding it. Winner’s Attitude is like those sexy six pack abs which is hidden under the layers of fat. Once you remove the fat then six packs are visible. Just like this we all have winner attitude, we just need to identify the layers covering these and then remove these layers systematically to uncover our attitude.
Simplistically saying – winner is a person who wants to win at ‘any cost’ and ‘any situation’. Mark these two words again – “at any cost” means ready to sacrifice – be it family life or comfort zone. A winner is always ready to give up some of his luxuries to achieve success. And he does it in “any situation”; he does not look for excuses in failures. Anyone can win if you get everything going for you – but the challenge is to win when some or most of the factors are not favoring you. A winner wins at any cost and any situation.
I bet after reading the above paragraph most of you would say – ‘hey this is me. I want to win’. And this is the point of this post – we all are born to win. But we let multiple negativities (layers) to cover our winning attitude. This happens either due to social upbringing or personal factors. Whatever it may be but the end result is – we have locked our winning attitude inside and are not able to enjoy the success as much as we should. The whole world today is fighting to obtain the world peace. Observe the paradox (and irony) in last sentence – Fighting and Peace. Yes, both should not stay together in a sentence but yet the irony is that situation is such as this. Achieving world peace individually may very well be an impossible task for a common man. The real challenge for us is to make peace with ourselves i.e. finding the inner peace. As I do in my other posts as well, I am asking you to stop here for a second and think – what is inner peace and why it is so important for my life?
For me, peace is a state of inner stillness (quiet) and inner stability; in peaceful state your mind, intellect, body and soul are in harmony with each other resulting in good concentration and focus. Peace is very important for the well being of a person. It is a positive state for our soul and peaceful people are generally thought to be blissful and happy. A peaceful person can perform even the toughest of task because he is calm inside. Peaceful mind is free of outer hurries and worries and a task done using open and free mind always exhibits quality. One who is at peace within can make a difference outside.
Peace is also one of the greatest qualities of a personality. However, in present times of elevated stress, it is very difficult to attain peace within. One major reason why we have lost the touch with the inner peace is because we have broken our bonds with spiritual ways. We all have experienced anger in our life – from tiny annoyance to full fledged rage; we have also experienced the problem associated with anger. It is an emotion which we encounter most – both within and outside. But yet we hardly understand this powerful emotion or try to control it. Before we should proceed further, let me stop you for a second to ask – what is anger? Most will probably answer in negative. However, anger is a normal and healthy emotion; it can be used for our advantage. Osho has said – ‘In anger the mind is focused entirely on one point. That is why there is so much power in anger.’ The responsibility lies with us to use this power to our benefits.
Unfortunately, this does not happen with most of us. In reality, we let anger to go out of control so much that it starts creating problems in our life. Goals are important road map on our life journey. They are the performance boosters, and people with right goals become more successful than those having no goals. They are not only more successful but also happier in life. Scientific study has proven that achieving goals releases a neurotransmitter called dopamine which creates the happy feelings.
